Hidden Mold a Potential Health Concern

Post Hurricane Sandy clean up has led to the discovery of mold in many commercial, industrial buildings and houses that were saturated by flood waters.  According to The Entech Group Inc., a leading energy, engineering and environmental services company in NJ, mold can lead to serious health problems for children, adults and even pets.

environmentalservicesnjmoldThe environmental services company in NJ warns that mold can lead to serious allergic reactions, asthma attacks and even permanent lung damage.  Pets can also suffer health consequences as a result of mold and may have an increase in scratching, licking, rubbing or chewing of their skin.  And what many people do not know is that mold could be growing in their homes right now.

Thomas A. Furey, P.E., L.S.R.P and Vice President of The Entech Group says, “If your building or home has been affected by flood waters, or even if you or anyone in your building  exhibits these symptoms, have a mold evaluation and inspection performed.”

Furey says that buildings and homes along the shoreline are more susceptible to mold because of increased moisture but he also points out that any building or home, regardless of location, can be a source of mold.
