Solar Rebates and Incentives

The government’s commitment to create a low carbon community has created a variety of incentive programs to entice utility customers to generate their own solar energy.

• Federal Investment Tax Credit/Grant (ITC) – The federal government is offering a 30% investment tax credit or 30% grant from the United States Treasury Department on solar property:  a) placed into service in 2009 or 2010; or b) placed into service between 2010 and January 1, 2017 as long as the construction began in 2009 or 2010.
• Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SREC) Earnings – SRECs are tradable environmental commodities which are generated for each 1,000 kW hrs of solar production. Learn more about SRECs
• Renewable Energy Incentive Program – The State of New Jersey is offering an incentive program for solar energy systems 0 – 10 kW in size. Rebate amounts may change throughout the year, so visit the New Jersey Clean Energy Program’s website for current incentive rates.
• Electrical Energy Savings – From the first day your solar energy electric generating facility is active, you’ll be saving a large portion of money every year on your electricity bills.
