From start to finish, the complete solar energy installation process will take anywhere from 3 to 6 months due to permitting and New Jersey and state incentive wait times. Fortunately, the actual on-site solar energy installation only takes a couple of days and should not cause any inconvenience to you or your family.

While every solar energy installation is different, the schedule outlined below may be used as a general guide for understanding a typical solar energy system installation timeframe.

• Week 1 – Start of project. Solar Installation Agreement has been executed and an application is submitted to the New Jersey Clean Energy Program (NJCEP) Renewable Energy Incentive Program (REIP).
• Weeks 2 through 4 – Structural & electrical engineering work is completed and local installation permits are applied for.
• Weeks 5 through 13 – PV Panels and equipment are delivered to the site upon receipt of the installation permits.
• Weeks 14 and 15 – Solar energy system installation begins.  System startup, testing, and demonstration activities are performed.
• Weeks 16 through 18 – Solar energy Installation completed – Inspections are scheduled with local municipalities, the NJCEP, and local utility companies.
• Weeks 19 through 21 – The solar energy system is fully operational upon the receipt of inspection approvals.
