Solar Installation Process

Although it typically takes only a few weeks to install the solar panels for your project. There are additional factors that need to be taken into account for the total timeline of your solar energy installation in New Jersey or surrounding areas.  While every system is different and has its own particular circumstances, the schedule outlined below may be used as a general guide for understanding a typical solar energy installation timeframe.

  • Week 1: Start of project. Solar Installation Agreement has been executed and an application is submitted to the New Jersey Clean Energy Program (NJCEP) Renewable Energy Incentive Program (REIP).
  • Weeks 2 through 5 – Structural & electrical engineering work is completed and local installation permits are applied for.
  • Weeks 6 through 13 – PV Panels and equipment are delivered to the site upon receipt of the installation permits.
  • Weeks 14 and 15 – Solar energy installation begins.  System startup, testing, and demonstration activities are performed.
  • Weeks 16 through 21 – Installation completed – Inspections are scheduled with local municipalities, the NJCEP, and local utility companies.
  • Weeks 22 through 25 – The system is fully operational upon the receipt of inspection approvals.
